This 6-day safari is specially designed for travelers who want to experience the Great Wildebeest Migration in the Northern Serengeti while also visiting two of Tanzania’s most famous parks; the Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater.
You will begin your Safari with a flight from Arusha to the Central Serengeti, where you will start seeing wildlife right away. Then you will travel north, where the Great Migration takes place between July and October. You will have time to explore the Mara River, where thousands of wildebeest try to cross while avoiding crocodiles and other predators.

🗓️Day 1: Arusha – Central Serengeti
Your safari begins early in the morning. After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Arusha Airport for a scenic flight to Central Serengeti. As your plane descends, you’ll see endless savannahs and wildlife below; a breathtaking start to your safari.
Upon landing, your guide will greet you at the airstrip with a 4x4 safari jeep. Begin your first game drive right away through Seronera Valley, a region full of wildlife year-round, especially big cats like lions, leopards, and cheetahs.

🗓️Day 3: Full-Day Game Drive in Northern Serengeti
Today is a full day of game viewing in Northern Serengeti. You will explore the Mara River area, where thousands of animals gather, waiting for the right moment to cross. Your guide will take you to the best locations to increase your chances of witnessing a crossing.
Even without a river crossing, this region is full of action; predators like lions, cheetahs, and leopards are always nearby, and elephants roam the northern valleys.

🗓️Day 4: Northern Serengeti – Central Serengeti

The drive takes most of the day, but it’s filled with amazing views and wildlife sightings.

🗓️Day 5: Central Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

You’ll arrive at your lodge on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, with breathtaking views of the world’s largest unbroken caldera. This is one of Africa’s best wildlife areas; home to lions, elephants, buffalo, rhinos, and more.

You’ll have a picnic breakfast or brunch near a hippo pool, then slowly ascend the crater walls and begin your drive back to Arusha, arriving in the afternoon.

Best Time to See the Migration in Northern Serengeti
The best time for this itinerary is from July to October, when the Great Migration herds are in the Northern Serengeti, near the Mara River crossings. Outside of these months, the route can be adjusted to follow the herds in Central or Southern Serengeti.
