SERENGETI MIGRATION SAFARI

The Great wildebeest migration safari in Serengeti

Africa's Great Serengeti Wildebeest Migration,Tour and itinerary

The Tanzania Serengeti migration safari is famous worldwide for its stunning natural beauty and scientific importance. It has the largest number of wild animals on the African plains. The Serengeti National Park in Tanzania was created in 1952. It's home to the most amazing wildlife event on Earth - the great migration of wildebeest and zebras. There are also many lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, and birds living there. You can stay in various types of places, from fancy lodges to moving camps. The park is huge, covering 5,700 square miles (14,763 square kilometers), which is even bigger than Connecticut, and there are usually only a few hundred vehicles driving around.

The best time to see the Great Migration each month

The Great Migration is a fantastic natural event where millions of wildebeests, zebras, and other plant-eating animals move across the Serengeti in East Africa. The timing of the migration can change a bit each year, but generally:

January to March: During these months, you can usually find the herds in the southern Serengeti plains in Tanzania and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This is when thousands of wildebeests have their babies. It's a great time to see the exciting and often intense interactions between predators and young animals.

April to June: This is when the herds move from the southern Serengeti to the western Serengeti and Grumeti Reserve. They start heading toward the northern areas, crossing rivers, and dealing with crocodiles. April and May are usually the rainy season, so everything is green and lush.

July to September: The wildebeests keep moving, going through the western part of the Serengeti and crossing the Grumeti and Mara rivers. Watching the river crossings is really thrilling because the animals have to brave the crocodile-filled waters. By the end of July, they often reach the Masai Mara Reserve in Kenya, where they stay until October.

October to December: During these months, the herds start their journey back from the Masai Mara to the southern Serengeti. They face different challenges, like crossing the rivers again and dealing with predators. In November and December, the southern Serengeti plains become the main place for the herds as they get ready for the baby season to happen all over again.
